The Steve Schneck Quartet
The Steve Schneck Quartet (originally a quintet) was formed in 1990, with Steve Schneck (trumpet and flugelhorn), Frank Dawson (guitar), Scott Mason (bass), Charlie Brougham (drums) and Anna Dawson (vocals). For the past 34 years, the group has played at several Chicago venues including the Jazz Showcase, The Green Mill, Andy's, the Heartland Cafe and Jazz Bulls. In September 2016, the Steve Schneck Quartet played at the Chicago Jazz Festival. Along with Steve and Scott Mason, the current members are Neal Alger (guitar), Peter Saxe (piano) and Phil Gratteau (drums). The group plays with either a guitarist or pianist. Other prominent musicians who have played with the group include long-time member Rusty Jones (drums) plus Dave Onderdonk (guitar), Don Stiernberg (guitar), Mike Allemana (guitar), Bobby Schiff (piano), Greg Artry (drums), Darren Scorza (drums), Tim Davis (drums), Chuck Christiansen (drums), Anthony Brock (bass), Al Ehrich (bass) and Jim Cox (bass). The Steve Schneck Quartet has released 2 CDs: "Together Again" in 1994 and "Dedicated to You" in 2012.
